The suspension system in your car is made up of many different components and you will need to replace certain parts over the lifetime of your vehicle.

This is why I am writing this Mevotech v Moog suspension parts comparison because they are two well-known brands that make parts for vehicle suspension systems.

What is a suspension system?

The suspension system on your vehicle plays a vital role in ensuring that you have a safe and comfortable journey.

The suspension on your car isn’t just one thing – it is actually made up of many different components that all work in tandem with one another. This includes parts such as:

There are many more and I am not going to list them all here but these are the main components you’ll normally hear about.

Your suspension system is designed to absorb all the shocks and bumps that you get with driving. This can be everyday journeys on bumpy roads or even on off-road terrain. Basically it helps to stabilize the vehicle so you have a comfortable drive where you are also in control.

If you ever drive a vehicle that has a very poor suspension system you’ll know all about it. The little bumps on the road that you barely notice in normal circumstances will feel 10x worse. You don’t even need to be a mechanic or an experienced driver to know that there is something wrong with your suspension system as it is pretty noticeable.

Signs you need to replace parts of your suspension

There are different signs that you should look out for that may mean that parts of your suspension system – namely control arms, wheel bearings, and ball joints – need to be replaced.

Screeching noise

When you turn the wheel of your vehicle you shouldn’t hear any screeching or grinding noises however if you do hear this unpleasant sound, it could be a sign that your wheel bearing needs to be replaced. This could happen due to several reasons but regularly driving on uneven roads and contamination of the lubricant are common reasons why this happens.

Less control when steering

Not only does a screeching noise happen if you need to replace certain parts of your suspension system but you may feel a significant loss of control as well. This can be dangerous when driving and it can result in either the wheel seizing up so you are unable to turn properly or having a lack of control over how your vehicle responds.

Increased vibration in steering parts

When going over bumps and uneven parts of the road, if you experience vibration in your steering wheel then this can also be a sign that you need new parts for your suspension system. This is usually caused by the control arm and while it isn’t necessarily an emergency problem it does need to be addressed.

Excessive tire wear

If the ball joints in your vehicle are worn and need to be replaced this can cause excessive tire wear. It means that your suspension isn’t aligned properly when you drive and the rubber on your tires won’t run along the ground consistently. So, if you have patches on your tires that are clearly worn it could be a sign you need to replace the ball joints in your suspension system and get new tires too.

Features of Mevotech v Moog suspension system parts

Before I show you what the best parts are to buy in this Mevotech v Moog comparison there are some things you should look out for before you make a purchase.

Installing

The good news is that the components of the suspension system that I’m going to show you below are all fairly easy to install.

You don’t really need to be a mechanic or have tons of experience in fitting parts of your vehicle to fit these onto your car. Even if you are inexperienced at installing new car parts, these should only take a couple of hours at most and can be completed in less time as well.

Longevity

When you buy any new part for your car whether it is a suspension system component, new brake pads, or even smaller things like spark plugs – you want to make sure that they are going to last.

There is no point in going for an inferior product if it means that you’ll need to replace that part again in a few months. Most parts of your suspension system have decent longevity and you should need to replace them until you reach over 70,00 miles. That being said, this does depend on how you drive and the types of roads that you drive on too.

Cost

The three components I’m going to compare below from Mevotech and Moog aren’t massively expensive and you won’t need to splash our thousands or even hundreds to replace these parts yourself.

Some components in your vehicle and also within your suspension system can be very expensive. You want to buy a part that is high quality and durable however that doesn’t always mean that you need to spend a lot of money to get it. You can drive down the cost of fitting these new parts yourself as well.

Our Recommendation
Moog Suspension Parts | Advance Auto Parts

Even though Mevotech is the less expensive option, we recommend going for Moog Suspension Parts because their products generally offer a higher quality which can ultimately pay off in the long run when choosing the best suspension parts for your vehicle.

Which is the better brand to go with?

I would say Moog edges Mevotech for several reasons. On the one hand, some people prefer Mevotech because they are a bit more inexpensive than Moog however I feel that Moog offers a higher quality product for the most part. This is why I choose the Moog 515036 Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly and the Moog CK620054 Control Arm ahead of its Mevotech counterparts.

Sometimes it pays, in the long run, to shell out a bit more money for a higher quality part for your vehicle. Mevotech’s components probably aren’t going to break on you after a few months however it is often better to pay that bit extra for something that is going to last a bit longer.

I don’t think that Mevotech is a bad brand if you want to save a bit of money and they do produce good suspension system parts but I would choose Moog first. Also, if you are also in need of a new resonator or muffler, here are some excellent choices I definitely recommend.

Bottom Line Summary: Don’t be fooled by the lower price tag, the slightly more expensive Moog suspension parts are a significant step up in quality and durability. Check out Advance Auto Parts here for the latest discounts here (price can be comparable to Mevotech).
